Overview

Good Company is a friendship tracking app that stores all data locally on your device. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how our app and website work.

Information We Collect

In the iOS App: Good Company stores all your data — including friend names, birthdays, phone numbers, email addresses, the identifier of any linked iOS contact, last contact dates, notification preferences, and your chosen Circle and per-friend Quick Action settings — entirely on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on our servers. We have no access to the information you enter in the app.

On This Website: If you use the contact form on our website, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide so we can respond to your inquiry. We also briefly record your IP address when you submit the form, which we use to prevent spam and abuse (rate limiting) and which is included in the notification email we receive. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics on this website.

iOS Contacts Access

If you choose to import a friend from your iOS Contacts or link an existing friend to a contact, Good Company reads the name, phone number, email address, and birthday from the contacts you select and copies that information into the app's local store on your device. Contacts data is never transmitted off your device. Access is requested by iOS only at the moment you tap Import from Contacts or Link to Contact, never at launch, and you can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts.

How We Use Your Information

App Data: Your friend data and preferences are used solely by the app on your device to provide reminders, display your friend list, and enable Quick Actions. This data never leaves your device.

Contact Form Data: Information submitted through our website contact form is used only to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to marketing lists or share your contact information.

Quick Actions and Other Apps

Good Company's Quick Actions (Text, Call, WhatsApp, FaceTime, FaceTime Audio, Email) open the corresponding system or third-party app via standard iOS URL schemes, pre-filled with the friend's phone number or email address from your local data. Good Company does not send messages or place calls on your behalf — the destination app does that, under its own privacy policy.

Local Notifications

Good Company uses iOS local notifications to remind you to stay in touch with friends and alert you about birthdays. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device and do not involve any server communication. You can disable notifications at any time in the app's settings or through iOS Settings.

Third-Party Services

The Good Company iOS app does not use any third-party services, analytics, or tracking. There are no ads, no analytics SDKs, and no data shared with third parties.

To deliver contact form submissions to our inbox, this website uses Resend, a US-based email delivery service that acts as a processor on our behalf. The name, email address, message, and IP address you submit are transmitted through Resend solely for the purpose of email delivery and are subject to Resend's own privacy practices. We do not use Resend for marketing.

This website uses minimal cookies for basic functionality (see our Cookie Policy).

Data Retention

App Data: Your data remains on your device for as long as the app is installed. If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed. We have no ability to recover your data since it is never transmitted to us.

Contact Form Data: We retain contact form submissions only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry, after which they are deleted.

Your Rights

Since all app data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can:

Children's Privacy

Good Company is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app or website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
